This package combines both bike hire and the Great Ride Cycle Connection for a no fuss day out on the Eastern section of the trail! Enjoy the best of both world's - train and cycling on an easy grade 1 trail between Kawakawa and Opua.

Jump on a bike with our Scene 3 easy rider, hired direct out of Kawakawa Station and ready for a great day's outing between Kawakawa and Opua return, riding the Bay of Islands Vintage Railway and riding the Pou Herenga Tai Twin Coast Cycle Trail. Package price includes Day Bike Hire, Train Connection, Helmet and padlock.

The Scene 3 is a relaxed ride that’s a fun, easy way to get around Kawakawa and Opua. 

Enjoy the easy, family friendly riding of the Pou Herenga Tai Twin Coast Cycle Trail eastern section (Kawakawa to Opua), jump on your bike, then the train and get out into the open country and river views in no time. Delicious food awaits at the Railway Station Cafe in Kawakawa, plus an amble around town to visit world famous Hundertwasser Toilets, Te Hononga visitor centre, galleries and retail stores.  The same awaits in Opua for a lovely relaxed stroll around the Marina, cafes, ice cream on the wharf, or if you're feeling ambitious a ferry ride to Russell.  All the fun possible for a day out on the trail.

  • Our Coach is also available to pick up and return passengers Paihia-Kawakawa on cruise ship days
