Jump on the Bay of Islands Vintage Railway to complete your Pou Herenga Tai Twin Coast Cycle Trail Great Ride from Opua or Kawakawa. The rail restoration works have meant that part of the cycle trail is no longer accessible safely over the operating rail corridor. Cyclists cannot access the section of the trail between Taumarere Station and Whangae Tunnel without getting a ride on the train. Cyclists MUST BOOK their connection for the popular experience to guarantee a train pick up whether travelling east or west.
If you are riding from Kaikohe or Kawakawa please select boarding at Taumarere Station. Departure times vary by season, so please select travel date in booking calendar and availabile times. Cycle time from Kawakawa is approximately 20 minutes, 3.3KM.
If you are riding from Opua please select boarding at Whangae Tunnel. Connection times vary, please use booking calendar to plan and book your train connection. Cycle time from Opua is approximately 20 minutes (there is a steep detour over the tunnel), approx 2.8KM

Maximum 26 bikes per session. Bikes carried subject to available space. At the discretion of the Guard on duty. At the owners risk. Maximum 16 cyclists per any one group. If you want to book in a group of 16 or more, please phone or email admin@keteriki.com for a Charter train.
