Custom package designed to suit your tour group or special event - up to 200 passengers.  Our team can work with your tour company or event organiser to design a unique and incredible experience package for the Bay of Island's heritage rail.  We can include coach transfers from Paihia or Waitangi, 120 minute scenic river journey, custom catering from fresh scones for morning tea at the station, packed lunch on the train, through to canape style catering with a unique selection of Northland food and wine; or a full buffet hāngi served at the Kawakawa or Taumarere Station.  

We can also include a cycle component and transfers with local operators for a full day package and can include the local itinerary, enjoying the cafes, galleries and the creative culture of Kawakawa, including the world famous Hundertwasser Toilets and award-winning Te Hononga building.  

Base package pricing from $79 - $250 and varies depending on your group or event requirements. Can include 120-minute scenic river train ride, return coach return to Paihia/ Kerikeri/Rusell/Whangarei, and a range of catering options onboard or at one of stations, workshop tours, bird watching, photo shoots etc. Total tour 3-4 hours. Easy walking and a wonderful door to door experience get you out into the beautiful New Zealand farmland, forest and wetland/river views all from the comfort of the train.  We have inside and outside carriages so you can get some fresh natural air and sunshine if you feel like it, or relax in one of our comfortable carriage's.

We operate all year round, including public and school holidays (except Christmas day) and have availability to schedule your cruise, tour, or event that suits your specific needs. 

Cruise clients are mostly co-ordinated through your onboard itinerary or product selection; at time of booking your cruise.  When booking through your cruise ship you are guaranteed tour departures and times that suit your ships schedule and they have designed a bespoke package for their clients. For cruise clients not travelling with onshore excursions we maybe able to co-ordinate this tour through other providers, but not guranteed.  Please enquire if you have any queries.
